About Setubandha Portal
The Setubandha Portal is a centralized digital platform developed by Central Sanskrit University in collaboration with the IKS Division,
Ministry of Education, Government of India. It is designed to host and manage schemes that bridge traditional Indian knowledge systems
with modern academic frameworks.
This interface offers streamlined invitation of applications and providing notifications to the candidates for the all-further
process of the Setubandha Schemes.

Setubandha Scholar Scheme
The Setubandha Scholar Scheme enables traditionally trained scholars to earn recognized PG and Ph.D. degrees through their Shastric learning.

SSS01 : Setubandha Scholar Scheme
The Setubandha Scholar Scheme aimed at recognizing and supporting scholars trained in traditional Gurukula systems. The scheme facilitates their integration into mainstream academia through the award of postgraduate and doctoral degrees.

- 1. आन्वीक्षिकी विद्या (Vedic Philosophical and Cognitive Sciences)
- 2. भाषा एवं वाग्विश्लेषण विद्या (Language, Speech and Linguistics)
- 3. इतिहास एवं सभ्यता विद्या (Historical and Civilizational Sciences)
- 4. धर्मशास्त्र एवं लौकिकशास्त्र विद्या (Law, Social and Cultural Sciences)
- 5. राजनीति एवं अर्थशास्त्र विद्या (Political, Economic and Strategic Sciences)
- 6. गणित-भौत-ज्यौतिष विद्या (Mathematical, Physical and Astronomical Sciences)

Eligibility
- Traditional scholars trained in Gurukula or under a traditional Guru.
- Must demonstrate deep knowledge in Shastric learning through lived experience.
- Maximum age: 32 years at the time of application.
- Certification from Guru/Gurukula in prescribed format is mandatory.
Scheme Categories
- PG Level Scholars: Learners who are deemed by the expert panel to have knowledge equivalent to a completed bachelor's degree and possess the requisite background to pursue a master's degree.
- Ph.D. Level Scholars: Learners who are deemed by the expert panel to have knowledge equivalent to a completed master’s degree and possess the requisite background to pursue Ph.D. level studies.
Degree Awarded
Every year the term of the scholar will be renewed and will be provided degree based on the performance evaluation by the competent authority.
In case the candidate is not able to perform satisfactorily, he/she will be given the degree in line with NCRF-2023 of UGC.

What is the Setubandha Scholar Scheme?
A joint initiative of IKS Division and CSU to award PG/Ph.D. degrees to scholars trained in traditional Gurukula systems.
Who can apply?
Traditional learners under Guru-shishya parampara, aged below 32, with deep Shastric knowledge and practice.
Are formal degree holders eligible?
The scholar should have learned that learning must be in the traditional format with immersive apprenticeship under a Guru. The scholar may or may not have a formal degree, that will not be given any additional benefit to the student.
What support do scholars receive?
Monthly scholarship (₹40k–₹75k), contingency funds, dual mentorship and academic workshops.
