SSS01 : Setubandha Scholar Scheme

The Setubandha Scholar Scheme aimed at recognizing and supporting scholars trained in traditional Gurukula systems. The scheme facilitates their integration into mainstream academia through the award of postgraduate and doctoral degrees.

SS01 Guidelines

Areas of Study (आष्टादश विद्यास्थानानि):

• 1. वेद/वेदभाष्य/श्रौतसूत्र/पौरोहित्य/कर्मकाण्ड (Veda/Vedabhāṣya/Śrautasūtra/Paurohitya/Karmakāṇḍa)
• 2. शिक्षा/व्याकरण (वैदिक एवं लौकिक)/निरुक्त (Śikṣā/Vyākaraṇam (Vaidika and Laukika)/Niruktam)
• 3. ज्योतिष (फलित एवं सिद्धान्त) (Jyotiṣa [Phalita & Siddhanta])
• 4. वेदान्त (सभी सम्प्रदाय) (Vedānta [All Sampradāyas])
• 5. पूर्वमीमांसा (Pūrvamīmāṃsā)
• 6. बौद्ध दर्शन (Bauddha)
• 7. जैन दर्शन (Jaina)
• 8. न्याय/वैशेषिक (Nyāya/Vaiśeṣika)
• 9. सांख्य/योग (Sāṃkhya/Yoga)
• 10. प्रत्यभिज्ञा, पाशुपतमत एवं अन्य दर्शन (Pratyabhijñā, Pāśupatamata and other Darśanas)
• 11. आगम/तन्त्र (Āgama/Tantra)
• 12. अलंकारशास्त्र/छन्दशास्त्र (Alaṅkāraśāstra/Chandaśāstra)
• 13. इतिहास/पुराण (Itihāsa/Purāṇa)
• 14. आयुर्वेद/सिद्ध (Āyurveda/Siddha)

Eligibility

• Traditional scholars trained in Gurukula or under a traditional Guru.
• Must demonstrate deep knowledge in Shastric learning through lived experience.
• Maximum age: 32 years at the time of application.
• Certification from Guru/Gurukula in prescribed format is mandatory.

Programme Offered

• Integrated M.Sc.–Ph.D. Programme in Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)
  The Setubandha Scholar Scheme provides an opportunity for scholars trained in traditional Gurukula and other Indian knowledge traditions to pursue higher education and research through an integrated M.Sc - Ph.D. Programme in Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).
• The programme recognises prior learning acquired through traditional modes of education and facilitates the transition of eligible scholars into mainstream higher education and research, subject to the prescribed eligibility criteria and selection process.

Degree Awarded

The Setubandha Scholar Scheme offers an Integrated M.Sc.–Ph.D. Programme in Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS).
Scholars who successfully complete the prescribed academic requirements of the postgraduate stage shall be eligible for the award of M.Sc. in Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS). Progression to the Ph.D. stage and the award of the Ph.D. degree shall be governed by the applicable regulations and academic requirements of Central Sanskrit University.

• Mandatory workshops at CSU campuses
